Tradtional Chinese Medical Acupuncture
The basic principles of Chinese Medicine have been recorded for over 2000 years. The belief system that
it is based on is vastly different from the Western Medicine we are all accustomed to in our society. Within this site
there is a realm of information which will help educate you within the world of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs.
The Principles of Acupuncture are based on the premise that there are twelve main meridians/channels running
through the body. These meridians are the channels where our energy (Qi) flows freely to ensure life is maintained.
Each meridian relates back to one of the twelve major ZangFu organs and along each meridian there are a number
of points which can be manipulated to trigger a physiological/psychological response in the body.
The response varies according to the combination of acupuncture points used and how
frequently they are manipulated.
As with any form of treatment the body will not respond to Acupuncture instantaneously. The healing process
takes a number of sessions over a period of time. As with most holistic/treatments Acupuncture does not aim to suppress
the symptoms but rather it concentrates on treating the cause of somebody’s ailments.
A good practitioner will always keep you informed of their treatment plan and how they feel you are progressing.

Chinese Herbs are another speciality which a practitioner can focus their treatment on.
When choosing a practitioner for Chinese Herbal
medicine always clarify with the professional in question that they are sutiably qualified to dispense the medication. All proficient practitioners will be registered with an apropriate governing body.
Chinese herbs can have numerous health benefits and usually come in the form of herb
combinations to be made in to a hot tea drink.
Each prescription for Chinese herbs will depend upon the diagnosis and the cause of the
symptoms which they are attempting to heal.
